About This Position

The Technical Trainer position provides and monitors training for firearms and other store operations. This position will have close contact with the Firearms Departments in the stores and be the primary resource for information and training, monitoring adherence to policy. The Technical Trainer will prepare product and procedural training materials for all stores and other responsibilities related to Training and Customer Service. The position is in the Training department at the OF&H office, reporting to the Director of Training.

Specific Duties (Training):

  • Individual will assist with:
    1. production of monthly and supplemental product training
    2. postings on Oscar, as well as assisting with Oscar system maintenance
    3. procedural documentation for various areas of the company
    4. tracking of training programs and certifications
    5. resolutions of customer service requests and document in Hub Spot
  • Publish monthly “Breaking News” articles
  • Other duties as assigned

Specific Duties (Firearms Procedures):

  • Monitor firearms counts and ensure accuracy of the bound book and perpetual inventory on a daily basis.
  • Individual will maintain:
    1. a high understanding of ATF requirements for 4473 dispositions and other firearm processes to provide assistance to store team members
    2. the Firearms Operations Procedure manual and related QMS documents
    3. all necessary filings for the Orscheln Federal Firearms Licenses
  • Administer the Firearms Specialist Certification Process by verifying training and recording certification
  • Perform in-office audits of ATF paperwork
  • Provide retraining to new stores and stores which fail firearms audit requirements. This training may be presented either virtually or on-site.
  • Prepare a monthly “On Target” newsletter for firearms departments team members.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft office applications, especially Excel
  • Detail oriented and strong focus on accuracy
  • Good analytical skills
  • Self-starter, able to work independently
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Team player in a fast-paced environment
  • Availability to travel to stores for on-site training when necessary
