"What do Orscheln’s retail, real estate and manufacturing operations have in common?"  "Nothing", says  Barry Orscheln, president of the Orscheln Group. "There is no fit. While we do provide some limited consulting, such as legal and tax services, each business is operated autonomously."

Under the umbrella of Orscheln Industries, come five main groupings.

1. Corporate Services

Orscheln Management Co. (ORMANCO) "is the financial management arm of the Orscheln Group", overseeing some of the work common to all of its companies.

Mark Twain Capital LLC is "an intellectual property management and investment company", the source of marketable ideas for other company ventures.

2. Manufacturing Operations

Orscheln Products LLC makes parking brakes, cables, shifters and latches for the industrial market.

Felsted Products LLC is a leading designer and manufacturer of heavy duty mechanical cables and controls. 

Platco LLC currently performs over 20 different types of plating and coating processes, which include yellow, clear and olive drab zinc chromate.

Qualico Precision Products LLC produces quality parts from steel, brass, aluminum and many other materials.

3. Formulated Products

Orbseal LLC produces sealants, adhesives and sound deadening materials for the auto industry.

Elisha Technologies Co. LLC has developed an environmentally safe mineralized technology which combats corrosion. With applications far beyond auto transportation, Elisha is commercializing uses in the "appliance, marine, oil field, and petro-chemical industries".

DeNovus LLC, develops and commercializes complex sealant and adhesive product solutions for non-automotive industrial, commercial and consumer uses.

4. Consumer Products

Orscheln Farm and Home LLC owns over 140 retail stores throughout eight Midwestern states. Sales include a variety of farm, animal, outdoor,  automotive, hardware and clothing products aimed at the rural lifestyle.

5. Property Management and Development

Orscheln Properties Co. LLC  develops and manages commercial real estate properties throughout the United States.

Elisha Sidebar

"All of our businesses are started from scratch. Elisha is just one of the more recent examples," says Orscheln Industries President, Barry Orscheln, referring to Elisha Technologies LLC.  "The parking brake is subjected to the worst environmental conditions of any part of a vehicle. The cables are exposed to water, salt, mud and chemicals. Part of our success in the parking brake field has been our ability to protect it from corrosion."

"The main anti-corrosive agent available is paint, a sealant. Our technology is exactly the opposite. It’s "smart" and doesn’t begin to work until those elements that cause corrosion begin to occur. And it’s environmentally friendly, cleaned up with soap and water. All other anti-corrosives contain things you wouldn’t want in your water supply. We’re perfecting our patents now and are in discussions with major partners to take this new technology to market."

Public recognition was gained in June of 1996 when Orscheln Industries received the  Governor's Technology Award for their work in the anti-corrosive field. The award was presented at the 38^th Annual Governor’s Conference on Economic Development in Springfield, Missouri.

Bob Heimann, V.P. and General Manager of Elisha, is the inventor of the technology and bestower of its name. "In the book of Kings in the Bible," he explains, "the prophet Elisha came up with creative solutions for complex problems. That’s what we’re about at Elisha Technologies. Our mission statement also borrows from the Bible, Psalm 104:30: "Creative solutions…to renew the face of the earth."
